HOBOKEN HAT BAR STORY
TAILORED FOR THE RUNWAY. TOUGH ENOUGH FOR THE TRAILS.

FRENCH LUXURY MEETS AMERICAN HERITAGE
Hoboken Hat Bar was founded by Gary Goldsmith, a systems engineer by background, entrepreneur at heart, and someone who has always believed the details are what make something memorable.
After six years working with Christian Dior and Louis Vuitton, including two years in France, he found an appreciation for exceptional craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and the details that turn a product into an experience.
In 2024, he returned to Hoboken, donated his hair, and opened The Collective Hoboken, a creative space built around bringing people together through unique, hands-on experiences. One of those experiences was a custom hat bar—and it quickly became clear that it could be something much bigger.
From the beginning, the goal wasn't simply to sell custom hats. We wanted to give every guest the freedom to create something that genuinely felt like their own.

HOBOKEN HAT BAR TAKES SHAPE
As the hat bar grew beyond the walls of The Collective, Hoboken Hat Bar became a brand of its own, bringing our custom experience to weddings, corporate events, private parties, pop ups, and celebrations from New York to Nashville and beyond.
Today, Hoboken Hat Bar brings together an engineering mindset, luxury background, and creative spirit to create thoughtfully designed experiences where every detail has a purpose.

EXPERIENCES PEOPLE TALK ABOUT
At every Hoboken Hat Bar event, the experience starts with a blank canvas. Guests choose their hat, find their fit, and then explore our collection of fabrics, bands, feathers, vintage pieces, charms, and details to begin making it their own.
From there, our hat designers bring the vision together. Hats are shaped, trimmed, layered, branded, burned, and finished by hand, right there at the event. Initials, dates, symbols, and personal touches can be burned directly into the hat, turning the final steps of the process into part of the experience itself.
It is hands on, personal, and meant to be watched. Guests get to see their ideas come together piece by piece before walking away with something curated just for them.
Choose the details. Make your mark. Wear the story.

OUR HAT, OUR STORY.
Even the hat brand has roots to our story. Sanglier, Hoboken Hat Bar’s house brand, is named after Rue Charles Sanglier, the street Gary and his wife called home while living in France.

YOUR HAT, YOUR STORY.
We believe customization should mean more than choosing from a handful of pre-selected options. Every person has a different story, therefore we need to bring a vast amount of suppliesto help each person tell their own story.
That’s why we show up with hundreds of ways to make a hat yours—over 100 fabrics, hundreds of vintage matchbooks, vintage brooches, luxury feather bouquets, 30 themed playing card decks, unique bands, 180 branding options, charms, dried florals, and details collected from everywhere.

If your favorite color is blue, we don’t bring one blue. We bring 15. If there’s a movie, place, hobby, memory, or detail that means something to you, there’s a good chance we brought something that connects to it.
We don't want you to leave with a hat that looks like everyone else's.
We want you to leave wearing your story.
